OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Since dedicating a beautiful new Church in 2016, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish community has witnessed substantial growth. The recently implemented Classical pedagogy has contributed to rapid expansion of the parish school. Many of the existing campus buildings are near the end of their life cycles, or inadequate to support school needs.

Hord Architects was commissioned to produce a conceptual master plan that balanced the needs of a 450-student school alongside a vibrant Catholic parish community. Master plan goals included respecting the hierarchy of the church with noble architecture, and reinforcing the Catholic Classical mission of the school.

The final proposal follows the Early Christian architectural character of the church, including an 80 ft. campanile. The axial quadrangle reinforces the campus hierarchies, punctuated at the center by a paved quatrefoil – emblematic of the four sets of mysteries of the Rosary. Physically situated on a hill near major thoroughfares, Our Lady of the Rosary is architecturally positioned to witness to Truth, Goodness, and Beauty in the midst of the ongoing revitalization of Greenville.
