This project is a 54,000 square foot master plan for a suburban church in Memphis, TN. Affectionately referred to as the “Church in the Woods,” Emmanuel United Methodist Church has had the fortune of growth over the years; however, as buildings were erected, a clear vision of campus connectivity, direction, and accessibility was lacking. Through our master planning process, we identified the campus’ challenges and prepared a long-term vision with the church to address worship, fellowship, education, beautification, and accessibility.
These attributes were prioritized within Phase One of the Master Plan. A multipurpose room, the Council Commons, underwent a transformative renovation and now provides a welcoming gathering space to all.
Phase Two included a new 14,000 square foot Fellowship Hall. This addition serves the congregation and their ministries, and it provides more opportunities for the church to engage the community.
